Welcome to RSPCA-Northeast.org and the
Newcastle & North Northumberland Branch
The most northern of the 174 RSPCA Branches, covering an area from Newcastle-upon-Tyne
and
Gateshead to Berwick-upon-Tweed and the Scottish Border, the Newcastle and North
Northumberland
Branch has been caring for unowned, abandoned, abused and injured animals since
1873.
The Newcastle & North Northumberland Branch of the
RSPCA is an independently registered charity.
This means that, despite public perception, we are
not directly funded by RSPCA Headquarters,
and as we receive no government funding or lottery
grants, all work we do in the local area is supported and continued
by direct donations to the
Newcastle & North Northumberland Branch, and by any fund raising that we may do in the area.
HOW YOU CAN HELP THE RSPCA - IF YOU HAVE SOME TIME TO SPARE.
Local RSPCA Branches rely on volunteers in order to do our work.
Without them we could not continue.
Volunteers are needed to help out in a variety of ways, and friendly, informal training is
available.
For example, You can help out in our charity shops.
You can help to raise funds. - All the money the Branch needs is raised locally.
You can help at events, or with campaigning, newsletters or administration.
You can help by home visiting. - Before an animal is re-homed, prospective adopters are
visited,
at home, to ensure that the animal being adopted is placed in the best environment for its
needs.
You can help in ways we might not have even yet thought of.
So if you have regular spare time to offer, or only the odd hour occasionally,
we are interested in talking to you.
